Poster for the opera TANNHAUSER by Jan Lenica (4 January 1928, Poznan Poland - 5 October 2001, Berlin) was a Polish graphic designer and cartoonist. From 1963 - 1986 he lived and worked in France. Around 1962 he started to make posters for the Warsaw Opera and embarked on the third stage of his poster design to develop his own characteristic "handwriting." The Museum of Modern Art in NY has his stunning "Wozzeck" in their collection. Offset, linen backed, 26 x 37-1/2 inches.
