Rare 37" Lenci Felt Russian Boudoir Doll, All Original 1925 - $2,098 - (Green Bay, WI)
IT HAS BEEN MY PLEASURE TO OWN THIS BEAUTIFUL DOLL FOR QUITE A FEW YEARS & IT WILL BE HARD TO PART WITHIt is time for someone else to love and cherish her.I haven't seen another one of these but I would imagine there are a few. To begin, she is in remarkable condition for a young lady pushing 100 years old. She has some dust, and her blouse is not quite as perky as it once was and her arms and face are somewhat darkened. What is amazing to me is the lack of fading to her skirt, front and back - the colors appear to be just as bright as they were originally. I kept her out of the light and previous owner must have also. Her magnificent hat is in excellent condition but probably a good brushing would do wonders. I always meant to do a little maintenance but never got around to it and since she was lovely as she was, she wasn't subjected to my housekeeping. All the materials seem to be strong. Now the deficits as I see them - each of her lower arms are darkened and the areas I have photoed show some weak or rough areas. I don't know that they need attention but I would be gentle with the arms. Her boots are simply amazing - red leather with hand embroidered detail. The heels are intact, one could use a spot of glue as well as the edge of the sole on one boot. (actually I will take care of that). Her undies are cotton, good condition - one would expect the fancy organdy Lenci was famous for but in true Lenci fashion, she knew they would be inappropriate for this doll. This particular doll was purchased from a Theriault's auction 25 years ago. My note says her hair is human but it is so soft and silky, I'm thinking perhaps mohair? As I was adding a full length photo - I don't have the proper stand for that - I noticed that removing the vest and the blouse would be very simple to do if you want to wash or iron the blouse. It looks very strong and would be even more lovely with a light wash.I AM WILLING TO SELL THIS DOLL ON A 12 MONTH OR LESS LAYAWAY PLAN TO A QUALIFIED…
