Saudi Arabian Scimitar Gold Sword with Knot Cord and Case - $5,000 - (Daly City, CA)
This item appears to be a reproduction of a Saudi Arabian Royal Presentation Sword presented as a gift to diplomatic dignitaries and personalities for their functions and achievements by the King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The most prominent one was presented in 1980's to Darrell Royal and his wife Dr. Nasser Al-Rashid, University of Texas Ph.D. graduate, founder of Rashid Engineering and advisor to the Saudi Arabia Royal Family that carries a conservative estimate of $25,000-$35,000. The sword was stored in a museum vault at the University of Texas at Austin Campus for 27 years and has never been publicly displayed. This item presented in this listing has many similarities including details in place. The gold scabbard is engraved with emblem of Saudi Arabia and foliated vines, holder rings on both the scabbard and hilt, overall length of 38", and a custom presentation case. This listed item only differs without the Arabian goldsmith inscription signature and the missing Saudi Arabia one guinea attached to gold chains. This listed item I believe has gold plated scabbard engraved with emblem of the Saudi Arabia and foliated vines, gold mounted hilt, and unmarked steel blade. The overall length is 38" - The hilt is 4.5", steel blade is 30.75"x 1.35" and weighs 3.4lbs. Please refer to photos provided. The presentation case is 43" long x 8.35" wide x 2.5" thick, made of wood and brass fixtures, green velveteen cover and a white silky linings with tiers, pair of white gloves and emblem of Saudi Arabia.
