You probably know us as the creators of Elfquest, and many of our listings are for related books and products. But we've also been collectors for many years, and from time to time we bid farewell to some treasures. This a complete set of three limited edition 1988 Superman 50th Birthday Plates. I am told that even though the limitation was for 15,000 copies of each plate, actually only around 300 sets were fired. These are #190, #203, and #230 (see photos). The plates present recreations of the artwork from the front cover to Action Comics #1, and the front and back covers to Superman #1. Each plate is approximately 10 inches in diameter, and the back of each plate gives a bit of history behind the image. Each plate is in MIB condition, in the original box, with a certificate of authenticity from the manufacturer, Ceramic Art Studio of Cleveland, Ohio. Each plate is hand signed on the back by the ceramicist, Michael Drexler.As far as I can tell, this is the only listing here of the complete set. Single plates are being offered for $170 and up... up and away. We can all do the math. This is an unbeatable opportunity at an unheard of price.
