1/4 Daguerreotype by Southworth & Hawes - Jenny Lind? - $12,000 - (Woodinville, WA)
Original early-1850s 1/4 daguerreotype of pretty young woman who appears to be holding a large songbook. Very possibly the famous 19th century singer Jenny Lind, who was one of the most highly regarded singers of the 19th century. She is seated in one of Southworth & Hawes' distinctive studio chairs. In 1851-1852, Southworth & Hawes took quite a few photos of Lind; in my second listing photo I show a side-by-side comparison of this dag with a well-known S&H portrait of Lind sitting in the same chair. *** Obviously the second example is for comparison purposes only and is not included. My pics came out a bit grainy looking.. the dag is very nice in person. Will try to add an improved scan soon. Please read the condition notes below. Daguerreotype is uncased. It has new archival seals. There are several tiny mat abrasions near the mat edges, but is in overall very good condition and looks very nice in person. Insured Priority shipping.
