These ore samples have thick veins of chrysocolla, with azurite and chalcocite highlights. Chrysocolla is a blue to blue-green crystallized mineral consisting of hydrated copper silicate. Azurite is a blue crystallized mineral consisting of copper hydroxyl carbonate. Chalcocite is a black crystallized mineral consisting of cuprous sulfide. These samples came from an 1880s Granite County, Montana copper mine in the Pintler Mountains.. These particular samples, in addition to the visible chrysocolla, chalcocite and azurite, may have malachite present, and may also have minute traces of silver and gold.
