BEAUTIFUL Vintage 7' 6" Cedar Wood Lapstrake Traditional Row Boat Sailing Dinghy - $4,950 - (Tacoma, WA)
A very fine rowing / sailing Dinghy made by Bob Ruchty of Olympia , about 1975 . This extraordinary and beautiful boat is only 7ft 6 ins long. Width is 43 ins and total length of mast 11ft 8 ins. Cedar planks and steamed Oak frames fastened by Copper rivets in the traditional lapstrake manner. Ash gunwales, Mahogany transom and fore deck. Mast, boom, gaff and oars are Sitka Spruce. Boom and gaff are octagonal as well as the oars. Sail by Nootka sailmakers of Tacoma, drop keel / dagger board and fitted canvas cover. All fittings Brass and Bronze. Other inventory included but not pictured, small anchor and Linen US Yacht flag with 13 stars. Has spent most of its life on display, (Foss Seaport museum for a number of years, see pic.) and its only time in the water was a seaworthy trial in a child's swimming pool ( see pic) . The build quality and attention to detail is more akin to a musical instrument. Ruchty was a master craftsman, winning several awards and active in small craft building from 1941 to 1985.
