Fender Silverface 1979 Twin Reverb - $1,199 - (Chagrin Falls, OH)
1979 Silverface Fender Twin Ultra Linear 135 Watt $1199This amp has been completely gone over and refurbished. Please note that there is before and after. It has its share of nick and tears on the tolex but still looks pretty good considering its age. 1) All blue poly caps have been replaced with orange drops. 2) All ceramic caps have been replaced with mica or orange drops. 3) All electrolytics have been replaced with F&Ts in the power supply and Sprague for the cathodes. 4) The 12AX7s tubes have been replaced with NOS made in USA Sylvania/Baldwin Long Plate 12AX7s in which all of them test much stronger than modern production tubes and sound sweeter! 5) The two 12AT7s have been replaced with NOS made in USA GEs. Again in in which all of them test much stronger than modern production tubes. 6) The 6L6GCs have been replaced with made in USA GE tubes that are well matched within 2-3 milliamps and tested very strong. 7) The phase inverter has been modded to blackface specs, which is a huge improvement with the tone. Being an Ultra Linear version, break up is a little later that a true blackface but much better than original Silverface design. 8) Replaced the first channel grid inputs with shielded wire to cut down on noise (although is was pretty quiet before the mod). 9) I had one speaker reconed and it appears the other was reconed in the past. 10) Upgraded the screen grid resistors form 1 watt to 5 watt. 11) Grounded the power tube cathodes with 2 watt 1 ohm resistors for easy biasing with a multimeter. 12) Went over all solder joints and reflowed them. 13) Replaced corners and feet with new Fender chrome. 14) Comes with and aftermarket footswitch for the reverb and tremolo. This amp is ready to go for another 38 years and is built like a tank! Thanks for looking.
