Yoshijiro (Mokushu) Urushibara Horse "D" print - $165 - (Helena, MT)

Yoshijiro (Mokuchu) Urushibara (1888 - 1953) was one of Japan's most acclaimed woodblock print artist. This print is called "Horse D" and was probably produced sometime from the later 1920's and early 1930's. On the upper right is the Mokuchu seal (Mokuchu was his artist name) and on the lower right is his signature Y. Urushibara. It was purchased from a local collectors estate sale and the print is in excellent shape. The print was framed by Cohen's Popular Price Picture Store, Washington D.C., with the company printed logo sticker is one the back. This print has not been removed from it's frame. Frame size is 18.75" x 14.5", the visible image is 13.5" x 9.5". A beautiful coveted artistic print that is becoming somewhat scarce. The artist use of shading in this print makes the horse appear 3-D. A nice print for a woodblock collection.
