You are bidding on the State of Alaska Division of Mines and Minerals, Geologic Report titled, "GEOLOGICAL AND GEOCHEMICAL INVESTIGATION IN THE METAL CREEK AREA, CHUGACH MOUNTAINS, ALASKA", shown in the photos. Published May, 1967. Please refer to the photos for more details. 11" X 8 1/2" softcover booklet. 19 pages of text and information. Report includes a 22" X 17 1/2" map with dozens of gold panning sample sites and results shown. This is indeed a treasure map as the gold is there in surprisingly recoverable amounts. The rough topography is such that a hand miner or dredger could do well. Division of Mines & Minerals geologists spent 19 days in the field between June 6, and July 1, 1966 in the Metal Creek area approximately 25 miles from Palmer, Alaska. Glacier Fork, Marcus Baker Glacier area, Grasshopper Valley were also included in the field study with pan samples taken. Geologic mapping and stream samples were collected from most of the active stream drainages in the area. Stream gravel pan samples and bedrock pan samples were collected, locations mapped, and the concentrates saved for heavy mineral study in the laboratory. Besides providing locations of recoverable coarse gold, the report is written in an easy to understand narrative story format providing information on Metal Creek's past gold mining history, production, topography of the area, trails, access, etc. If you are a miner, prospector, historian, artifact hunter, or if you just like to sit on your big duff and read good stuff - you will enjoy this report & map packet.
