Custom 000-42 12 fret guitar Cocobolo/Carpathian Spruce Martin-syle case - $1,800 - (Point Roberts, WA)
Long-time collector and semi-professional fingerstyle guitar player. Rheumatoid arthritis is taking its toll and so I've decided to sell some of my prized guitars, including this magnificent 000-42-style, 12 fret cutaway guitar made by the gifted luthier, Robert White of southern California. Sacle length is 25.4; lower bout measures 15" and the upper bout 10.75". Comes with a quality hard-shell case. The guitar has beautifully quarter-sawn 30 year old Cocobolo back and sides purchased from a luthier supply company years ago. The top is a Mastergrade AAAA Carpathian spruce top (very slight bearclaw) from Bachman luthier supplies in Switzerland. Fretboard and pyramid bridge are Pau Ferro. Neck and body are bound in ivroid with a top and sound hole that are bound in magnificent Pua shell. The headstock is slotted with a diamond volute and vintage-style tuners (Grover?). The front is adorned with a beautiful traditional "Flowerpot" inlay. There is some minor crazing evident around the bridge and in spots around the outside of the top. The crazing is from temperature change during shipping but cannot be seen except for very close inspection. The crazing is completely stable. The guitar is in excellent condition as seen in the photo graphs. I point out the crazing only to err on the side of being conservative in my description. This guitar plays like a dream with deep clear bass, excellent mids and clear highs. Harmonics ring like a bell! Action is medium low and can be easily lowered or raised to suit the new owner's preferences. As mentioned in previous ads, I've owned many pre-war Martins, Larsons, Tonk Bros. as well as numerous new high-end guitars (Claxton, Kim Walker, Bourgois, Traugot, Schoenberg, Greenfield) costing thousands of dollars. I can say with confidence that this Robert White guitars is the equal of many of these elite guitars costing thousands more!!
