French Antique Brass Inlay Wood Box with Artist Supplies - $295 - (Manti, UT)

This is an Antique French Box, possibly Napoleon III, made of solid wood, possibly walnut with a veneer top with inlaid brass on the top and a brass name plate. (not yet engraved) Inside is a lift out tray, probably not original, and a bunch of artist brushes, a stylus, and tubes of paint. (We checked some of the paint tubes and they appear to be dried up.) It has a working lock with a key. The top is slightly bowed and the veneer on the top has some checking, which is normal for its age and can be seen in one of the photos. It measures 10.5 inches long, 8 inches wide, 2.25 inches tall, and weighs 2.5 pounds with all of the artist supplies included. We found it in a Paris Antiques market and thought it interesting. We imagine that it was previously owned by a starving French artist, long deceased, whose paintings are now selling for millions of dollars. Or not. We also thought it a unique gift, especially for an aspiring artist, one possibly traveling to Paris for instruction in the fine art of painting. A nice box for a collection also. We had initially priced it at about $120.00 but our antique expert, family member, said it was worth much more than that so we revised it..
