This superb antique American Dedham Pottery Crackle glaze plate is decorated with cobalt blue butterflies. It is signed Oldham Pottery with a Rabbit ( dates it to between 1896 and 1928) and is a hard to find, desirable design which is well decorated in the classic Dedham "Crackle Ware "finish. It is signed by Maud Davenport , Dedhams' best artist (tiny blue circle rebus on the lower left side of the butterfly at 1:00 o'clock). There is also a stylized, hand- painted Pv blue mark on the back. A truly gorgeous, significant historical American Dedham pottery plate!
