800x600 Staffordshire Childs Green Toy Dinner Set DRESDEN FLOWERS Minton Staffordshire, England c 1840 This is an exquisite antique Staffordshire transferware miniature dinner set, circa 1840. Transfer printed in rich leafy green, it is decorated with a striking botanical pattern of roses primrose and peonies with a simple chain border trim finished with pearlware glaze. Originally part of a complete childs toy dollhouse dinner service, the set comprises: · 4 Dinner Plates, 3-3/4 inches · 4 Soup Plates, 3-3/4 inches · 4 Side Plates, 3-1/4 inches · 4 Pie Plates, 2-7/8 inches · Sauce Tureen with lid, ladle & under platter, 4-1/2 inches · Sauce Tureen with lid, 4-1/2 inches · Vegetable Tureen with lid, 3-3/4 inches square (lid broken & reglued as shown; base broken & reglued) · 2 Gravy Pitchers or Sauce Boats, 4 inches long (nick on foot of one pitcher) · Open Vegetable Serving Bowl, 4-1/8 inches long · 2 Meat Platters, 4-3/4 inches and 5-1/4 inches long The pattern name is Dresden Flowers. The set is mostly unmarked except for code letters and impressed tally marks dating the set to c1840. One plate is marked ‘BB New Stone’ a typical mark by Minton c1830-1845 in the Staffordshire region of England. The pattern is illustrated in Lorraine Punchard's "Playtime Pottery & Porcelain" as well as in Doris Lechler's "English Toy China”. The set is in great condition as described in detail above. There are no other chips, cracks, or repairs. An outstanding example of a rare early English floral pattern. The decoration and detailing is first quality. Sold as shown, as described.
