Vintage Original '68 Polo Ralph Lauren Dayton's Rare Collectible 2 Neckties Ties - $5,000 - (Delray Beach, FL)
~Guaranteed Authentic~ ULTRA RARE! We've been involved in men's and women's clothing in major retail chains since 1990 and on ebay since 1998. These are the first original POLO ties I have ever seen. I've seen tons of "vintage" Ralph Lauren/POLO clothing with the polo player logo from the 1980's and 1990's going for $3,000 plus! These however are truly VINTAGE and not just vintage . . . these are ORIGINAL RALPH LAUREN POLO. FROM 1968! These ties are some of the first POLO ties ever made after Beau Brummel owner, Ned Brower agreed, in 1967, to sell Lauren's ties under the POLO name. We can easily date these from 1967-1968 (most likely '68) because the POLO company was formed in 1967 and in 1969, Dayton's merged and became Dayton-Hudson. Ralph Lauren prided himself on choosing all of the fabrics and explored New York City thrift stores, street vendors and fabric remnant stores. These ties are quintessential Ralph Lauren from that period when he bucked the trend of skinny ties and dared to create wider ties with unique colorful designs using the best quality materials. Each tie has a similar exotic Indian/Hindu design and is made of 100% silk. These are almost 50 year old and were never preserved other than hanging in a closet! There are no rips, tears or holes but, there is some staining on the yellow one that is is hard to discern because of the pattern. There is also staining on the back side white silk lining of each tie but it is worse on the yellow. They each have a tag that says " Dayton's Men's Store" and only the blue one has the original "Polo" label and the "All Silk Imported" label. 100% Imported SilkBlue measures 56" long and 3½" at the widestYellow measures 56" long and 3½" at the widest From a pet-free, smoke-free environment.
