Vintage Distler German Mfg.1938 BMW Wanderer Tin Wind Up Toy Roadster W/Box - $395 - (Huntington, NY)
Offered is a near mint to mint condition 1938 BMW Wanderer manufactured in 1950 by the well known Distler Toy Company of Germany. The tin roadster is complete including the often missing clear plastic wind shield and frame. The car has no rust nor scratches to the two tone paint and was never restored. Just under 10" the classic toy winds up when the Distler metal key(included) is rotated inside the continental wheel located on the trunk. I have not attempted to initiate the dash board and floor shift's which are both present and should run the car in reverse and the additional three forward speeds as intended. I leave that up to the new owner as this is a difficult application for the layman of which I am indeed a long time member!! All rubber, wheel covers and aluminum metal undercarriage are in wonderful condition as the 12 photos confirm. Please note that the original box though quite presentable and which are rarely if ever offered, has shelf wear and is not in the same condition as the BMW Wanderer. This is a unique and very special opportunity to own one of the true iconic German toy's manufactured in the U.S. Zone and only a few years after the end of the second world war.
