1845 Victoria Crown Coin Young Head Cinquefoil Stops GB VIII Silver VF British - $432 - (Richmond, TX)

1845 Milled Silver Queen Victoria Crown Coin with Cinquefoil* Stops This coin belonged to my late Grandfather, a long-time coin and stamp dealer by profession, who had graded it VF. Please judge the condition for yourself from the pictures, however, as I'm not an expert and grading is always somewhat subjective. It's been with his other saved coins in a sealed vault for the last 40+ years. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ *A Cinquefoil is a five petal flower. It's used in heraldry to indicate "mastery over self" and often found on coins as a decoration. Cinquefoil stops were used on the edges of some coins, notably the British Crown (Five Shillings), to enclose the Regal date (usually in Roman numerals) of the King or Queen; most commonly Queen Victoria's coins. The VIII within the stops indicates that it is the 8th year of the reign of that particular King or Queen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Shipping is free within the U.S. and $14.00 for international orders.
