Fiction Paperback: THE SHRINKING MAN by Richard Matheson. Original release of the story that became two films and several later book editions (many under the title THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN.) True 1st edition. 1st printing. Gold Medal #s577. Pictures shown are of the actual book. Printed 1956. Published by Fawcett Publications Inc, New York. 4 1/4 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches tall. Illustrated cardstock covers (perfect bound) with black printing on yellow spine. 192 pages. Condition: Cover shows wear: 1 inch tear at lower spine fold corner, 1/4 inch tear at upper spine fold corner, heavy crease and rubbing the full length of the spine, creasing across both panels (including one corner), outer corners rubbed and lightly rounded (one also slightly curled). Cover is starting to separate from the spine. Inner spine is curved, causing early and late pages to extend beyond the cover paper, leading to darkening of that uncovered paper. Inner pages are tanning as expected with this sort of paper but are tight to the spine and supple. No writings or stampings within. Some inner pages have folded over/creased corners. Light staining on some of the inner pages (mostly on the lower corner in the last third or so of the book.)
