Offered is an ultra rare Jacobs Patent Gutta Percha head driver. Patented in 1894 by Charles Jacobs and manufactured by The India Rubber,Gutta Percha and Telegraphs Works LTD. London,this club head is made from a solid block of Gutta Percha. The crown is cleartly stamped Jacobs Patent.The slip on the leading edge of the sole is made of metal.The face is smooth and the head shows only normal wear.The whipping is very old and may or may not be original. The shaft is somewhat bowed and the club has been shortened to 40 inches.Grip is an old correct replacement. The following is from the Sothebys golf catalog regarding the Jacobs Patent Club .
