Decanter Cut Glass Lrg with Floral Cuttings Fine Quality Rare Lead Crystal Glass Recently acquired from an estate, is this quite handsome large size vintage cut glass decanter. Upon seeing this decanter, I was impressed and knew that cut glass decanters of this fine quality do not come along but rarely. One can visit antique malls and shows large and small for years without finding a cut glass decanter of this quality and in this beautiful condition. The blank used to make this decanter was especially very very heavy, unusually thick, and with brilliant clarity made of crystal lead glass. The stopper is also made of heavy thick crystal lead glass. The upper part of the stopper has a hallow center. The bottom of the decanter has the classic cut glass star cut into it. The bottom quarter of the decanter's sides are cut with vertical panels side-by-side. The upper two-thirds of the decanter are decorated with three bouquets of elaborate floral cuttings. The flower cuttings are extensive and some of the most artistic and detailed that I have seen on either American Brilliant Cut Glass or Depression glass. The upper part head of the stopper is also decorated with a delicate and detailed floral cuttings. The top shoulders of the decanter has a ring of elongated oval flat surfaces cut into the glass. The decanter with stopper is 12.5 inches high by 3 3/4 inches wide. As the decanter looks to be in near pristine condition, I will not fill with water to measure the capacity. This decanter appears to hold maybe most or all of a bottle of standard size whiskey or scotch bottle. Condition: The decanter and stopper are in great condition without damage - no chips or cracks. The insides of the decanter are clean free of residue. It appears that the former owners never used the decanter for storage.
