French silver Antoine Leschaudel 1744 marked Fromery porcelain snuff box! - $1,250 - (Leslie, MO)
Beautiful and interesting early Fromery Berlin white enamel and gold-leaf decorated French silver mounted snuff or patch box. There is one bigorne hallmark of tax Fermier General: Antoine Leschaudel 1744-1750 eagle head I could find as seen. The box is then white enameled with very finely carved or moulded features. The box also has green and blue enamel work along with rich gold-leaf. The box is also decorated to the base side and has nice bird figures to the box sides. The box has no repairs and is an “estate fresh” unaltered original example. The box is overall in substantially intact condition for its early age and the lid opens and closes perfectly. The box measures 2 1/2 inches long, by 2 inches wide, and sits 1 1/4 inches tall. The box weighs 100 grams.
