Jack Garver Watercolor Fishing Shanty Signed Listed Original Frame - $650 - (West Brookfield, MA)
An excellent watercolor painting of fishing shanty, signed Jack Garner in the lower left. The painting, rabbet 16" wide by 12" high within frame measuring 21 1/2" wide by 16 1/2" high, is in good condition under glass. The frame is original to the painting with a fabric and wood liner (there is an edge sliver missing on the wood liner that will be replaced before being shipped), Garner, of Chatham, Massachusetts, graduated from the Carnegie Institute of Technology and went on to become an superior artist in watercolor as well as a serious teacher in various art schools. He has received numerous national awards to include member of New England Watercolor Society, the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Taos National Society of Watercolorists and the Watercolor USA Honor Society. The painting has the wonderful feel of a hazy day, perhaps on the Cape or Martha's Vineyard, with seagulls circling above the shanty and cottage with another cottage on top of the hill. Of the various Garner paintings I've seen in galleries and at auction, this painting stands with the best of them. Happy Hunting!!
