MALCOLM CAMPBELL'S BLUEBIRD WINDUP TIN RACE CAR BY WELLS BRIMTOY EXCELLENT WORKS. Here is a super rare Wells (UK) car from the 40's or earlier. It does not say Wells but my investigation of this toy over the last couple years have found it to be a Wells toy made in England. It is over 11 inches long, made of all tin. This could very well be the Rolls Royce version of the Bluebird. I have not been able 100% to substantiate that claim. One of these sold for $4700.00 8/2010 on Ebay. This is the super rare silver version. The couple that I have seen over the years have been orange. It's a large tinplate Bluebird Record Car based on the famous record breaking car of Sir Malcolm Campbell. Impressive silver litho tin body with red trim, high tail blue fin with British flag on back sides and on hood, the wheels are tin, litho tin driver. No dents or dings just mild scratches and wear here and there. The windup works well but, I never tried to over wind it. This is truly a museum quality toy.
