African DR Congo Yaka “Ngoombu”Slit Gong Drum…circa (early 20th cent) - $1,200 - (North Vancouver District, BC)

Here’s a beautiful slit gong drum of the Yaka people from DR Congo and its dates to the early 20th cent. Has its original bird feathers and nice patina all around the specimen, especially over the handle face. These sort of percussion instruments were used to produce a very distinct sound during Yaka ceremonies, and sometimes, to communicate with other villagers some miles away…like a sort of “walkie talkie” …….…A BEUATIFUL AFRICAN SPECIMEN FROM THE DR OF CONGO!
