Hi The top lifts off to fill with seed and the center of each flower is a hole for the seed It shows a lot of wear I do not see any chips or cracks but the wire that connects the bird on top is missing some paintFeels like ceramic Please look at all 12 pictures I have a measuring tape in a couple pictures to show size
