Gorgeous Antique Wooden Ships Wheel, 60" Overall Diameter An uncommonly beautiful wooden ships wheel, made by the American Engineering Company. The eight spoke wheel features a double band of inlaid wood, solid from front to back. Varnished teak, mahogany and hardwood surrounds a 10 inch brass hub with a 2 1/2" keyhole. Including the spokes, the wheel measures 60" from top to bottom. Exclusive of the spokes, it is 47" in diameter, and is at the thickest about 1.5 inches. It weighs approximately 65 pounds. Again, the brass hub is 10" in diameter, and is 2 1/2 inches deep. Each spoke is 6 1/2 inches long. A brass circle is inset and stamped with the maker's name: American Engineering Company, Philadelphia, Pa. It is 1 1/2 inches in diameter. We believe the finish to be original. Except for a few spots that appear to be white paint, it is in excellent condition.From an estate in Boston, Massachusetts. We will ship the wheel to you via private carrier.
