The deck does record and playback. Here's what I know About it. I've recorded about a half dozen albums on it. Fast forward and rewind work, but slow down to a stop before the end of the reel. The counter belt is stretched. I still have it and will include it. I'm sure a new drive belt would cure the fast forward and rewind problem. The bulb for the counter is out. The case is excellent except for the damage in the picture. I'm sure it could use lubrication. The front panel is excellent. Please look at the pictures. They are part of the description. The deck is being sold as is. This would be great minor project or use it the way it is. I cleaned and demagnetized the heads, but I'm not an expert. Buy with confidence. Check my feedback.
