Here is a rare and original painting of Bobby Jones.I searched for any painting of Bobby Jones on the golf course in action and could not find one original painting as this painting of Jones in action.Most were prints or a portrait copied from a earlier photo.Painted in the 1930's shortly after Augusta golf course was built.I do not see a artist signature but at the bottom right of his sweater looks like some sort of monogram.Wonderful impressionist work and I am sure by a very important talented artist. It is painted on cold pressed paper board about 1/4" thick.Looks to be a mix media of water color, oil, and gouache.Condition is excellent.Size with margins 13 1/2" x 13 3/4". Size of image 9 1/2" x 9 1/2" square.Please view my close up photo's.On June 26,1989 Dawson Taylor famous author of golf and friend of Bobby Jones wrote a letter saying this painting is of Bobby Jones. Also on Jan. 24, 1990 the museum curator at the USGA in Far Hills,N.J. Both copies of letters will go to the winning buyer.
