Delicate drawing in Black graphite on beige laid paper Size: approx. 8" X 12" Frame 14.5" X 18.5" Red estate stamp of the artist lower right Date: XIXth century Condition: Very good general condition. Félix FOSSEY (1826-1895) French painter, painter in watercolour, pastellist and draughtsman. Belongs to the Romantic movement (Delacroix, Gericault) In 1844, FOSSEY entered the École des Beaux-Arts and studied with Henri-Joseph Blondel and Léon Cogniet. He regularly exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1847 until 1869, and received the Second « Prix de Rome » in 1852 as a reward for his Resurection of Jaïre’s daughter. In 1860 he was appointed Professor at the École des Beaux Arts and taught there until 1865.
