It is a pleasure to offer Original 1850s Francois Etienne Musin (b.1820 - d.1888), Oil on Board, "Return of Fishermen" Seascape Paining, which is a part of a larger Fine Art collection we are in the process of listing on eBay (please see our other items). Renown for his seascapes, Francois Etienne Musin studied under Michel Van Cuyck, Francois Antoine Bossuet and later with Francois Joseph Navez at the Academie Royale des Beaux Arts in Brussels. In 1845, 2 of his paintings were bought by King Leopold I of Belgium and in 1853, Kaiser Wilhelm commissioned 8 seascapes, dramatically increasing Musin's popularity in Royal circles. This Oil on Wooden Board painting is framed in gilt wood frame and measures 14 3/4 inches (~ 37.5 cm) across by 11 3/4 inches (~ 30 cm) top to bottom (including the frame), with an image of 8 1/4 inches (~ 21 cm) across and 5 1/4 inches (~ 13.3 cm) top to bottom. The Painting is in Very Good condition: Clean, Bright and Attractive with light craquelure throughout, consistent with age and this medium (shown in pictures). Overall this is an outstanding specimen of original Francois Etienne Musin Seascape.
