Mato Wakan/Native American Drum Painted by Lakota Artist Sonja Holy Eagle - $325 - (Rapid City, SD)

This is a very high Quality drum, made from hand scraped buffalo rawhide, and a chiseled cottonwood frame. The biggest difference from the average drums you find, is the hand scraped rawhide. Most rawhide is made using chemicals. hand scraped rawhide is made using just water and a scraper. This means the rawhide will last ten times longer than the chemical produced rawhide. That's because the chemicals in normal rawhide remove the natural oil. Hand scraped rawhide has all the natural oils still in it, meaning you don't have to use any oils to keep it from cracking. Just normal care , not letting it get close to extreme heat means these drums will last a very long time. You can pay just once and have something a very long time. Or you can buy many cheap drums that don't last very long. This drum was painted by well known artist Sonja Holy Eagle, and signed by her. She uses natural earth paints, then seals it so it can even get wet without damaging the painting The size of this drum is !5" by 15" by 7". This is a natural tree shape so it's not perfectly round. Drumsticks are available here at a separate listing for 20.00 Each You will not be charged additional shipping if you add that purchase to your drum.
