Fabulous Large Nippon 16" Moriage Relief Birds at Sunset Vase - $750 - (Wheeling, IL)
Words and pictures can't even do this magnificent vase justice. The detail and colors are incredible. There are four raised moriage birds and the entire vase is covered in light turquoise moriage dots. There are a few dots missing, but the vase is so large and busy that you can't really notice it. The scene is a lovely sunset with trees. The handles are very ornate. Only one word for this vase..."BREATHTAKING!" Please note that there is a narrow chip at the base as seen in the last picture. It is in the back and not particularly noticeable.The bottom is not marked so I cannot tell you the maker. Based on the Japanese letters, I do know this was made in Japan. I have seen many moriage vases but most are not this tall. 16"H x 9.5" wide from handle to handle. The base is 5" wide.
