Mourning lockets are a bit bittersweet but truly such a beautiful way to remember a loved one. In the Victorian language of flowers, lily of the valley are symbolic of the return to happiness and the promise to one day be reunited with loved ones. The front of this lovely pendant depicts a spray of lily the valley flowers, accented with glittering rose-cut diamonds. The reverse contains oval compartment for a lock hair or a photo. The pendant is suspended by a substantial black enamel and gold bail. Measurements: 2" long (including the bail) x 1 3/8" long (without the bail) x 1 1/16" wide x 1/2" deep Weight: 16.5 grams Circa 1860-1880 Diamonds: 19 rose cut diamonds, approximately .35 CTW Condition notes: Excellent condition, there aren't any chips, light surface wear on the enamel but no deep scratches or losses.
