French Perfume Bottle-"Golliwogg"-Original Box & Label-Purple Satin Lined - $370 - (Maxwell, IA)
Up for auction is this French Parfum "Golliwogg" Bottle in the Original Box. This Satin Perfume Bottle was made for Vigny by Verreries Brosse. The Bottle has the Original Label, "Golli Wogg - Vigny Paris France" with a Small Gold Label on the bottom. The Original Black Box with Gold Graphics is Purple Satin Lined. As you can see in the photo, one end of the Lid is missing, but doesn't take away from this Great 1920's Perfume Bottle! On the Bottom of the Box in raised letters is, "Made in France." This Stunning Perfume Bottle is approximately 3 inches Tall. The Box measures approximately 2 1/4 inches by 2 3/4 inches tall. This Perfume Bottle is in Excellent Condition, No chips, dings, flakes, cracks, flea bites, etc., see photos. The Box is missing one of the end flaps of the Lid. Thanks for looking. Here is some information I found about this Perfume Bottle on the internet, "Golliwogg Parfum c1920's - Vigny’s bottle stoppers were of black glass molded with wide open eyes and a large smiling mouth enameled in red. The top of the stopper was fitted with real seal fur which is not always intact on bottles found today. The rarest of all bottles, were the first presentations which had no hair, these are not to be confused with the stoppers found today missing their hair, you can tell the difference, as the ones that lost their hair have traces of glue residue on the top of the stopper where the hair would be. The bottle, itself, was made by Verreries Brosse and the satin glass bottle was the first made in the series of bottles that were to change over the years. Later bottles were made up of clear glass.
