Estate Sale Mandolin (Mandola?) - $200 - (Ottawa, IL)

Found this instrument at an Estate Sale. I guess it would be from the 60s. Looks like a Hofner "cat eyes," mandolin made in Germany, but no markings on the headstock or in the sound hole. I'm not even sure if it's a mandolin or mandola. The body seems too thick to be a mandolin, but I'm not an expert. It has some condition issues, but overall it's pretty solid for being so old.
