Antique German Violin-1790's - $3,500 - (Cincinnati, OH)
0 0 1 141 810 Miami University 6 1 950 14.0 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE This beautiful hand-crafted German violin is thought to have been made around 1790. The inside label reads Amati, but it is believed to be a copy. Nevertheless, this is a stunning instrument; the scroll is gorgeously carved and the inlaid purfling expertly crafted! It previously had a crack that was repaired a number of years ago, but no longer has any major damage. It does have some minor knicks that are expected from having lived through over 200 hundred years. This violin is in playable condition, and has had new strings added recently. It has a warm, but powerful tone that is perfect for playing across registers. Purchase includes bow, what seem to be the original strings and bridge, and the original case. The bow’s hairs are broken and will need repaired if one wishes to use it. The outer wear of the case is vastly deteriorating, but the interior works perfectly, with a brilliant green-grey velvet. A new case is recommended to store the violin if the buyer does not wish to restore the original case.
