The obverse is sharply doubled at the date, the right-hand stars, at TY of LIBERTY and back hair & ribbon area of the liberty. The left side stars and elsewhere of the coin also evidence of doubling but less well defined. Light anomalies above AMERICA suggest doubling was once visible on the reverse legend of this circulated early dollar. The doubling on the coin obverse remains obvious to the unassisted eye.
