AMES MILITIA OFFICER'S SWORD c1850 - High Grade with Pearl Grip - $1,450 - (Rocky Face, GA)

Ames Militia Officer high grade sword with mother of pearl grip and helmeted pommel, marked "Ames Mfg. Co. Chicopee Mass" in dry needle script. Nicely etched blade with 1850's Ames style American eagle design with blade having appx. 85% of original finish. A super presentation grade hilt retains 90% of it's bright gold gilt finish, the excellent mother of pearl slab grips have plenty of fire and are without cracks or flaws. Comes with correct brass scabbard back marked "Ames Mfg. Co. Chicopee Mass.". Scabbard has had a break at second suspension ring, and has an old repair as shown.
