CHINESE EXPORT SILVER ENTREE DISHES EX PEABODY MUSEUM WEIGH 171 OZ One of a kind pair of c1840 Chinese export silver entree dishes. We are selling our 40 year personal collection. The set not seen in market since 1970s. Originally offered $64,000. USD. Featured Professor Adrien von Ferscht's web site March 15, 2014. The set formerly in the Forbes Peabody Museum collection. They are illustrated pg. 217 of his text. From Cutshing. Bearing his early "CU/k" mark 1850 - 1860 (See Forbes). Rectangular design gently curved at corner. Pierced shell and leaf handles, center scallop shell. Framed in sweeping vine with ruffled leaf terminal. As found on the original c1820 George III design. Globe and leaf cap, twin vine finials in petal frame. Gothic "B" for the original owner. Entree dishes 14 1/2 inches X 9 and 6 1/2 inches tall set 171 (standard) ounces. Fine condition. Rich silver patina. Retains original detail. Covers close flush to base. One with old silver patch appox. 1 1/4 by 1/2 inch as shown last image. Massachusetts residents are subject to sales tax.
