This versatile device allows transfer from mini DV tape (from your camcorder) and other media to internal hard drive and DVD. Review the manual (link below) if you have operational questions.Excellent condition (read below). Warning: The miniDV tape drive has a problem and can damage your tapes! The mechanism fails to rewind the tape loop at ejection properly, If you remove the cassette the tape loop hangs and can be broken by the user. Replacement miniDV tape drive can sometimes be found on eBay. Might be fixable. The unit dubs great to HD & DVD from DV Camcorder connected using a 4 pin IEEE 1394 cable. JVC recommends a specific one. I use a generic one. Note: Apparently, audio monitoring while dubbing to Hard drive or DVD through the unit is not available. JVC recommends using alternative audio from the source. Audio passes through just fine when not dubbing...probably normal for the unit. DVDs recorded on the unit dubbed from the HD or camcorder via cable are NORMAL and audio is just fine! Has worked well for transferring my tapes to DVD.
