Salt & Pepper Set: Bjorn Wiinblad Romance Porcelain by Rosenthal - $39 - (Bloomington, IN)

Here is a perfect little set of salt and pepper shakers, appropriately marked with a gold ‘S’ and ‘P’. Each shaker is 2 ¾” tall and is complete with the plug for the underside fill hole. They are in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or discolorations. This wonderful pattern, a most popular design by the famed Bjorn Wiinblad, is called Romance. It is a beautiful textured embossed design in pure white porcelain that was produced by Rosenthal Continental from 1961 to its retirement, after 44 years of immense popularity, in 2005. It’s among the most popular of vintage modern designs, still loved today. Bjørn Wiinblad was a Danish painter, designer and artist in a number of fine arts media -- ceramics, silver, bronze, textiles, and graphics. His Magic Flute series is one of the all-time classics in contemporary design His work has been shown widely in Europe, in the United States of America first in 1954 and in Japan, Australia and Canada in 1968. Born in Copenhagen in 1918, he died in Kongens Lyngby, Denmark, in 2006. As stated, both shakers are in excellent condition. Please review the photos and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
