E.S. Prussia Plate, Wide Gold Tapestry Border, RARE - $125 - (Longview, TX)

This is a figural scenic décor of " Portia and Shylock " [marked on left side]; " Walter Paget " signature on right. The scene is from Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice; highlighted by a richly decorated gold tapestry border with turquoise beading and floral reserves; ES Mark 14; Rare Decoration. The same transfer and mold is shown in Gaston's Fourth Series, page 220, plate 620. SEE PHOTO 2. The plate has no chips, hairline cracks or signs of repair. It measures 9 1/4 inches in diameter.
