In the mid-1700s, French fur trappers introduced these coats (Capotes) to America. Today they are worn by buckskinners, mountain man reenactors and have become stylish as winter wear. This particular capote is hand made from an original Witney Four Point wool blanket. It would be comparable in size to a men's 2XL.
