Large Continental School Country Landscape Oil Painting This antique oil painting features a luminous sky above a bucolic country landscape with a thatched-roof cottage and tranquil lake. It is a stunning example of Continental School (France, Belgium, Holland) paintings and was made in the late 1800's. As with many paintings of this genre, it is unsigned. The painting measures 24" x 32", and is installed in a custom gold-leafed frame which is most likely from the early 20th Century. The frame outside dimensions are 27.5" x 35" The canvas has been lined onto archival polyester canvas for stability, and re-stretched onto the original stretcher bars. It was gently cleaned and coated with non-yellowing varnish which bring out the colors and details.
