Legacy Tonewood specializes in supplying luthiers with the finest Adirondack red spruce tonewood. First, we acquire the highest quality red spruce logs available from the Adirondack Mountain region of New York State. Legacy Tonewood carefully processes logs into tonewood for crafting responsive instruments. All of Legacy’s wood is air dried; the traditional method of seasoning tonewood. This auction is for a soundboard that will fit an OM or similar sized guitar. Soundboard dimensions are 22 7/8" long, width varies from 8" to 5 1/2" and it is .200" thick. This is a nice soundboard with nice grain structure and without color. Latewood is not coarse, there is minimal runout and it is well quartersawn. There are a few small bearclaw type grain wiggles that can be seen when viewed at the right angle. This soundboard was cut in April 2014, and has been air drying since. The pictures here are of the actual soundboard you will receive. Please use the pictures to supplement this description and if you would like further information, please ask prior to bidding or buying. Note: Guitar tonewood is graded based on the pattern drawn onto each soundboard. Color variations and other defects outside of this pattern are not considered. Also, width dimensions for guitar soundboards refer to the width of boards in the lower bout area. Soundboards may vary in width along their length, but will be large enough to fit the indicated guitar pattern. All soundboards have the center joint cut straight, so minimal width will be lost while planning or sanding the center joint.
