MINT 1950's BATTERY OPERATED CRAGSTAN TELLY BEAR TIN LITHO TELEPHONE TOY MIB - $750 - (Omaha, NE)
This listing is for a fully functional BATTERY OPERATED CRAGSTAN TELLY BEAR w/box as shown. It is in excellent-near mint condition. Colors are clear & bright. Litho, tin, plush fur & clothing are very nice. No corrosion anywhere. To operate, dial the rotary phone about 5-7 times, or just hold the dial to 1 for about 4 seconds and then release the dial. The following correct 6 actions then occur: (1) Telephone rings, (2) Red light in the phone lights up, (3) Right hand moves up and down, (4) Left hand lifts the phone to his ear, (5) Telly bear's mouth starts opening and closing as if he is talking, (6) A loud talking sound is made each time his mouth opens and closes. Very cute! Strong mechanism. This toy has been tested and works great. Battery compartment is mint as are the connections. The original box is included. It is in very good condition although it does have a number of clear tape reairs on the inside of the lid. Displays very well. This is a "MADE IN JAPAN" toy listed in Don Hultzman's book, COLLECTOR'S GUIDE TO BATTERY TOYS, copyright 2002, second edition. It is listed on page 56. It is a 1950's era toy made by the S&E Co. & distributed by Cragstan Toys, It has a rarity of 4 on a scale to 10 being the rarest, and a value of $450.00 in C-10 condition without the box.
