BEAUTIFUL large FRED ZIMBALIST THORENS silver plate music box w/99 discs LOOK - $1,800 - (Weatherford, TX)
This is a Vintage Antique Fred Zimbalist MUSIC BOX - JEWELRY BOX that is in the shape of a small antique dresser with six drawers. Measures 13" tall, 12.5" wide and 6.5" deep and weights approx. 20-30 lbs with discs. The case is plated over a brass body. The movement is a THORENS made in Switzerland movement and plays the small Thorens discs as shown. 99 discs are included. The box is in working condition. Not an expert on these, it may need a tune up. Box is very rare, have only found one other that sold about ten years ago at an auction in Dallas. This box is an estate find out of Ft. Worth Texas and is in as found condition as shown. No intent or effort is being made to deceive here, telling you all I know. Some of the disc show a degree of oxidation that does not harm their playability, others appear almost new. There is a rich patina to the outside of the box, you can see the drawer pictures and know what it once looked like. One drawer is a tight fit and requires some work to extract.
