Gorgeous Hitatsura wakizashi, Kaga Fujiwara Ietada - $4,800 - (Minneapolis, MN)

A very unusual sword in hitatsura that stands out "across the room", with violent but well controlled clouds of nie throughout the blade. Itame/nagare hada, lots of activity throughout. Powerful imagery which is easy to appreciate.Nagasa is almost exactly 50cm (19 3/4 inch).Signed Kashu Ju Fujiwara Ietada. Unfortunately, the signature is a great match to 1st generation Ietada, wazamono, likely putting this blade around circa 1625-1635.Unfortunately, because while Ietada made swords known as good cutters, he was not really producing artistic blades, and apparently no other example of such hitatsura by him is known. As such, with the signature filed off, all the chances it would paper to somewhat substantially more famous. Lifelong guarantee to NBTHK paper as is (i.e. return will be accepted if rejected as gimei), but the quality clearly shows it was a special order blade, specifically in this violent and flamboyant style, which must have taken a lot of effort to create. High quality polish, and good condition save for a few scuffs that are shown in pictures. Comes with shirasaya, gold foiled habaki and sword bag. 2 weeks inspection period, moneyback no questions asked.I am almost finished putting out my moving sale, but the things that remain will still be delivered by my associates, no worries here.
