Original Drawing WWII? Concentration Camp? Social Realism POW? By James Landgraf - $1,200 - (Margate City, NJ)
We purchased a large portfolio of artwork from this artist's estate containing etchings, drawings, and paintings. After researching, we also found out that the artist did all the advertising art for Esquire Shoe Polish in the 1950's. We have an entire collection of original sketches, photos, and drawings from Esquire. He worked in many different mediums and styles. Stay up to date on our listings as we add his works! James Landgraf (I believe he is deceased and that he was a NJ artist, but I have not been able to confirm because there are multiple people with his name) This work really stands out and has a rareness about it. I am curious what the scene depicts. Most of his work was dated 1950's, some was dated 1940's. I wonder is this was a WWII scene? It looks like a POW scene to me but I am not sure. The figures are drawn in the manner of a WWII propaganda film. Really interesting. Unsigned Condition Nice vintage condition. On loose spiral paper.
