Circa 1890's Central Drafting, lamp oil burning, hanging lamp - $450 - (Columbus, MS)
This is a Circa 1890s Victorian style Hanging ceiling lamp. It had been installed in an older house here in Columbus Ms. The lamp had been modified to electrical. Some of the parts had to be restored such as the central draft tube. Some of the parts were missing such as the ceiling retractor assembly, the smoke bell, the glass chimney, and the smoke diffuser. I have restored this lamp to it original function. The retractor assembly ceiling cover was badly corroded. Unfortunately, I had to clean it up and spray paint it with a hammered copper metallic paint. I have repaired and wound up the retractor mechanism and suspended it with a full tank of lamp oil (about a quart) the suspension unit held well with only a slight drop (3 or 4 links). I have sealed the tank with a gas tank sealer and it does not leak. If you half fill it, it does not drop at all. The retractor is fully functional for pulling it down to light the lamp and to fill it with fuel. This a very beautiful lamp that is fully functional.Only Ships to U.S.A.
